Well-Dressed Albany
Please join us for a tour of Well-Dressed in Victorian Albany. This exhibition of nineteenth-century Victorian fashion represents a rare opportunity to showcase part of the Albany Institute’s costume collection, one of the museum’s treasures.
Spanning more than 250 years, from the mid-eighteenth century to the present, the Albany Institute’s costume collection includes more than 4,000 garments and accessories that were used or worn by upstate New Yorkers of all ages, social classes, economic conditions, and cultural groups.

There is a parking lot behind the museum on Elk Street (between Swan St. and Dove St.).

Join you JFS Albany NNORC for a special tour of the “Captured Moments” photography exhibit with Jeannie Straussman. Over 100 photographs have been chosen from the museums’ collection to represent different parts of Albany’s history and the surrounding regions.
After the tour, you can spend time seeing other exhibits, shop at the Institute’s gift shop or dine at the Institute’s café.  If you are interested in attending, but need a ride, NNORC staff will do their best to arrange one.

Join your NNORC friends for a visit to the Albany Institute of History and Art to see an special exhibition of historical bed covers before it leaves the area.
If you have a love for history, textiles, decorating and sewing, you won’t want to miss this special outing. The exhibition investigates the designs and patterns that decorate American bed covers of the eighteenth, nineteenth, and twentieth centuries. More than thirty bed covers and complementary objects such as illustrated books, paintings, ceramics, and botanical specimens reveal a variety of design sources used by American women and men to decorate their bedrooms.
Our tour will be lead by JFS staff member Jeannie Straussman, Program Director of Haven, who also serves as a docent at the Albany Institute. Jeannie is excited to share her knowledge of this exhibit with the NNORC.
