NNORC, the Neighborhood Naturally Occurring Retirement Community, is an interfaith partnership led by Jewish Family Services of NENY. Community and Program Partners are Senior Services of Albany, Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany, United Jewish Federation of NENY, St. Peter's Home Care and Choices program, Catholic Charities, St. Sophia's Greek Orthodox Church, Sidney Albert Albany Jewish Community Center, University at Albany School of Social Welfare, and College of Saint Rose. NNORC allow adults to remain in their homes and gives them opportunities for social interaction and increased access to health and social services. With the Baby Boom generation moving into the 60+ age range, the need for development of supportive services for older adults wishing to remain in their homes has never been more timely. As the first NNORC in the region, we hope this pilot program will serve as a model for other local communities and neighborhoods. It is our goal to promote innovative, supportive services to seniors who wish to live independently. By providing access to a range of health and supportive services, we hope to improve the residents' health, social outcomes and quality of life as they age in place.
